Bayad Center hits one million transactions
Bayad Center, the payment collection service of Corporate Information Solutions, Inc. (CIS), marked a milestone in October 2000, processing more than a million transactions that month.

Marx Mella, Bayad Center account manager, says overcoming the million-transaction hurdle signified the success of a recent campaign to make Bayad Center the top-of-mind payment collection agency in the country.

Over 500 Bayad Centers in Luzon accept payments for 14 merchant-clients, namely, Manila Electric Company (Meralco), Bayan Telecommunications, Inc., Globe Telecom, Inc., Smart Communications, Inc., SkyCable, SkyInternet, Digital Telecommunications (Phils.), Inc, Express Telecom, Nextel, Islacom, Manulife, Philamlife, CAP Pension and CAP Education. New Bayad Centers have been pilot-tested in Cebu and Iloilo and Mella says public reception has been "always good."

Bayad Centers accept payments through third party agents such as Mercury Drug, major department stores, convenience stores and banks. Hence, the service's expansion outside Luzon follows the opening of new branches by third party agents. CIS currently counts over 500 third party agents as partners for the Bayad Center service.

CIS is owned 51% by Meralco and 49% Benpres Holdings Corporation.
